Awards

Over the past few weeks I have been lucky enough to receive a few of these online awards that are doing the rounds. I always take them in the way I think they are intended, and that way being from one blogger to another who likes or appreciates your work. I know some people dismiss them, and that’s cool, to each their own, but I feel that the person choosing me and my site at the very least deserves a public thankyou!

As I seem to have collected a few of these in the months I have been writing, I decided to create a page dedicated to the awards received. Not just as a place I can go to and admire how great I am, but more importantly it will be a permanent link to all the people and sites that have chosen me. So if you have ever nominated me, or would like to in the future (why wouldn’t you?!) your name and details will be forever listed on THIS PAGE (or hit up the ‘awards‘ tab in the header menu). It’s not much, but just my little way of thanking those who have thought of my humble site.

Enough chat now, and here are the people and sites who have recently chosen Headinavice.com for some more awards –

To these amazing people, thank you so much!! I genuinely appreciate it and am honoured you thought of me.

Now, these awards come with some degree of ‘work‘ which is why some people decide not to do much with them. However, I’m going to cheat a little. The main rules are thanking those who nominate you, and linking back to their sites. Well, I have done this, both on this page and immortalised them forever on my AWARDS PAGE, so please go check out their terrific sites.

Next I have to nominate some more people to receive this award. I always find this hard, as I don’t want to bother people, and some have just received these awards. However, since I don’t want people to think I’m ungrateful and never give anything back, I’m going to nominate a few people. If I was to follow the rules exactly I would have to nominate about 50 blogs, but that would take forever, so I won’t be doing that don’t worry. The risk here is missing people out, which is always going to happen as I follow so many brilliant blogs, so I have bent the rules and nominated the following people who have all wrote articles for my site. More specifically, all my Guest Contributors who have submitting reviews for my IMDB Top 250 Project. Bit of a cop-out, but I can’t thank them enough for giving up their time to write reviews for me, and this is a tiny bit more of gratitude for them from me.

I don’t mind if you guys and girls I selected decide to do nothing with this award, but hey, just remember this is me being nice, so please continue to send me your reviews! I’m nominating you all for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award, and if you choose to accept and post about it, the full rules are linking back to the person who nominated you, choose some blogs to pass it on to, and share 7 random facts about yourself (which I am skipping since I did this recently and am not very interesting to have more random things!).

Here are the recipients of the Very Inspiring Blogger Award from me:

Apologies for those I didn’t mention. I felt the guest contributors route was a fair way, as there are so many of you who ‘like‘ and comment on all my posts, re-tweet me on twitter and are just all round awesome people. But trying to single some out is unfair and impossible, so at least this way I can cop-out and say the contributors have gone out of their way to write for me, therefore ‘inspiring me‘ to continue the IMDB project!

I also want to do a special mention and pass on the Blog of the Year award to the 3 people who have just and continue to pass awards on to me. I always feel bad since they pass the awards to me, and I can’t send them one back, but this time I believe I can get in there first with this award, since it was kindly passed to me by Brad.

John, Marilyn & Mike, thank you for all the awards and praise you send my way, so you are the 3 people I am passing on the Blog of the Year Award to:

John from Written In Blood

I have let all these people know, and here endeth this huge post. Nearly. Just a quick final thanks to Marilyn, Matthew, John, Mike & Brad for choosing my site, I am honoured. To those I picked and passed the award on to, please don’t feel obliged to do anything. Just your thanks, some more reviews and a bit of money will suffice! To those sites I missed, I apologise, but I still read everything that my community writes both on here and your own sites, and if you want to join the party and submit some reviews so I give you an award next time just get in touch. 😉 Although, if there is a next time maybe I’ll hit up all those who have joined my Desert Island project. Until next time folks, thanks for reading. 😛

  3. Thanks for the shout out there my man. Mike passed on the Inspiring Blog Award to me as well. I don’t think going to get a chance to write up my own post but I always mention people on my ‘about me’ page as a little permanent link and appreciation. So expect yours and Mike’s to appear soon.

  4. Gee, thanks Tyson! I humbly accept and I’ll be passing on the “lurve” (aka love in real English) to 3 more deserving bloggers (although, you’ve already nominated one of the bloggers I had in mind, sorry Marilyn) *raises his fist and yells, “Damn you Salezar!” And I’ll give you a metaphorical cookie if you can guess what film that comes from… 😀

  11. Thanks a lot for the award, Tyson! I really appreciate it. As I got a similar award fairly recently, I’m going to skip the naming other winners and listing facts about myself, though. But thanks a lot for the mention and I look forward to keep contributing to Head in a Vice. Cheers!

I won’t have time to properly thank Tyson for this very special award for next couple of days, but it seemed like letting him speak in his own words would be a good temporary fix 🙂 Lately, I feel almost embarrassed at the number of awards and accolades coming my way … to such an extent that I have spent a whole lot more time than anyone should trying to figure out why … ultimately concluding that (a) I must be doing something right, and (b) people have run out of other candidates.
But of course, that’s not really true, because no matter how many awards you get, or I get, I never give them to anyone that I don’t genuinely feel deserves recognition.

There’s another issue involved: In our daily lives, most of us don’t get recognition. We work, we do what we are supposed to do, what we have to do, what we are expected to do by others and ourselves. In my 40 years of work, I’ve gotten very little recognition beyond the occasional “Good job, Marilyn.” No statuettes (Garry has a lot of them!) plaques, etc. I just didn’t work in that kind of industry. No annual awards. Having a job IS the reward. Now, with blogging, I feel like I’m making up for lost time. I will pass this (and another couple of awards) to others. I hope I can make a few other folks feel that their efforts are not going for naught.

Meanwhile, to m faithful audience, please feel free to express your admiration with large cash donations 🙂
And thank you all for finding my stuff interesting enough to read, look at, comment on … and even send me the occasional piece of hate mail. In this society, without hate mail, you hardly count in this world.

  13. You sly dog giving me such a big award! Well, I will do something special with it. It really is an honor … and after all the years I spent working anonymously and so hard, it’s nice to be having fun and getting so much recognition for enjoying myself!

  17. Thanks Tyson! I’m really glad to have written for your site, it’s one really great blog that you’ve got here. 🙂 I aim to post about this award but have been out of the blogging circuit for the last couple of weeks due to a crazy workload, I’ll try hard to make time to do that though.
    Thanks again!

  18. Many thanks, man! I haven’t been around lately, but that was due to an extreme case of internet/blogging laziness and Metal Gear Solid. Blame Snake.

You deserve awards, though, since this is a great blog. Not too many of them have actual community behind them, so feel good about that.
