Happy Anniversary!!

anniversary

Today is a very special day for me (time zone depending, may be next day now, but you get the gist of it).

Exactly one year ago today, I married the most beautiful girl in the world:

Carly

We have been together since we were 17/18, and after ‘courting‘ for 12 years we finally got married. I know everyone always says their wedding day is the happiest day of their life, and I have to join that club as literally everything about it was perfect. So why the hell am I telling you this? I’m not sure, not really movie related I know, but I wanted to do something public since I always get moaned at for spending too much time working on this blog. This time hopefully my blog efforts will be forgiven since it’s a nice personal post. 🙂

The flowers in the title image are from our wedding, and this post is full of our photos. I want to make this my most personal post yet, and since it’s nearly Christmas and a time for giving, this is me doing one post that I can show my family and friends without fear of a ‘nasty, horrible torture image‘ popping up like it frequently does on my reviews.

The wedding was set up for Christmas, decorations everywhere and complete with a 20ft tree. The best part was that like in ‘The Shining‘ we had the whole hotel booked out for just us and our guests.

This was the view from our room – picture perfect with a rainbow, a lake and snow topped mountains. Amazingly this is the area we live in. 10 minutes from our house and maybe we don’t always appreciate how lucky we are.

our view

After the most amazing day and night, we set off on our Honeymoon the next day (not ideal, 15 hours travelling being hung over wasn’t great) but the location more than made up for it. This was our once in a lifetime trip to the Maldives.

And the nice staff there set up our Honeymoon room for us:

I spent most of my week there sitting on our private deck waiting for Reef Sharks to swim by. They were very common in the area, and we have some great videos of them, one is of a shark fin getting closer and closer to my wife without her realising, and one is my jumping in after them, but this is a photo I took of one right below me.

IMG_0354

The ‘what happens next‘ in this photo is me trying to touch the shark, which was greeted with lots of mutterings of ‘idiot‘ from the love of my life. Not supportive at all! I am fascinated by sharks, and despite some of them being the same size as me I just wanted to be near them. Crazy to some people I guess, but incredible to watch them.

Anyway, whilst I can’t persuade my wife – Carly – or our family to read my blog very often, I hope they are now, and so to them THANKYOU for making this day last year the best day ever. And Carly, thank you, for just being you. And putting up with me, always writing on my ‘stupid blog‘. 🙂 Happy Anniversary wifey 😛

To everyone else, apologies for the sentimental mushy lovey-dovey post. To make it a little site related, Head In A Vice has just turned 6 months old, so another reason for me to celebrate. I never thought anyone would really be reading my work, so to have had 46,575 views in 6 months has blown my little mind. Thank you to everyone that has visited, and continues to do so. Every visit, like and comment is appreciated more than you will ever know, and I can’t wait to carry on doing this and meeting more amazing people.

Thanks for reading, and I hope I can keep you all coming back for more. No more awards or anniversary posts this week I promise! 🙂

As interesting as I find sharks I don’t think I could get in near them, all I would hear would be the Jaws theme and that would be it for me!

    • Thanks mate.

Great Whites may be different, but Reef Sharks were quite nervous, and swam away when I got too near. Still, the fin out of the water swimming towards you is a bit daunting 🙂

Happy Anniversary, Tyson and Carly. I’m always glad to see two people in love and happy. My wife and I had a most wonderful honeymoon of our own. A friend loaned us her cabin in the woods and not only was it beautiful; it was stocked with a full bar. There was however the matter of a quite lecherous spirit. The entire time my wife and I were ‘getting to know each other’ we could feel the presence of someone else in the room. To top it off, my wife felt something tug at her foot. After we got back, my friend, who is a nurse and quite intelligent and therefore not prone to believing in such things as ghosts, told us about our ‘visitor’. She said he was basically harmless, but was indeed quite the perv.
Anyway, congrats to the two of you. I hope you have many, many more.

Yours sounds more terrifying than anything. A pervy ghost you say?! Creepy. Still, as long as you enjoyed it!

Appreciate your kind words my friend, thanks again 😛

The ghost of Marilyn Monroe would have been nice. Then again I don’t want my marriage to end on the night it began because of a ghost. Or a living human for that matter. I love my wife.

Also, I liked the shark picture. I swam with sharks (in an aquarium) earlier this year and it was such an amazing experience.

        • I feel people build an image of someone they dont know but read their stuff. I would like to think people have a cool image of me imagined, and my real self would let that down! Obviously I’m incredibly handsome to have married a girl like the one in the photo (Carly I think she was called) 😉

Just to be in a sharks presence is awe inspiring, but when its in their natural habitat, truly was incredible,

As mother of the bride I can agree it was an amazing day! & I do have a very beautiful, clever daughter. I also now have a great son-in-law, who I have always felt was part of our family. . . He’s done an amazing job with this web site, but as I’m a little squeamish , I don’t always like the images…!! All part of the site though. . I know, again congrats. Love Linda x

Hey, Mate!! Thanks for sharing!! There is nothing wrong with being mushy although some might argue that point. To them, I say — walk this way!! Carly is lovely and let’s summon up Hallelujah Chorus for both of you. May you continue to do and enjoy all the big and little things that make Marriage a wonderful thing.

    • Haha, thank you Garry!! She would argue I don’t do a lot of little or big things, but if I wasnt lazy she would have less to nag about, and we are supposed to take each other for better or worse right?!

Joking aside, it has been an amazing first year, and hopefully there are many more to come. Thanks as always for stopping by Garry, I appreciate it. 🙂

  29. This was awesome. I know how you feel, I also married the most beautiful girl in the world (strange coincidence…) 7 months ago. We didn’t get a fancy honeymoon like yours, though. Damn. Want to go there. But congrats on living the life and having a family you love. That’s what it’s all about for me.

    • That is strange, why was the same girl marrying us both?……We went all out for our Honeymoon, since we will probably never be able to afford another holiday like it. Still be paying it off in 10 years I imagine but it was worth it. Life is short and for living, luckily some of us get to do it with amazing people.

      Cheers Phobos 🙂
