Question Time XI: Dream Date

question time 11

Since it’s Valentines Day, I figured today’s question should be romantically themed. Sometimes the questions in this series can be quite serious and are about delving into you and your site. Most importantly they are about getting to know you, my faithful readers, and why you do what you do. Now with today’s question, hopefully I can see where your mind takes you when I ask the following question:

Who would be your movie character dream date?

Just to clarify, imagine in a fantasy world I could get you a date with a character from a film, who would that character be? (I’m not saying I can’t make this happen, by the way, I mean I 99.9% can’t make it happen as I have no people to ask their people, but you never know!)

I always see people asking who their ideal Hollywood man or woman is, and everyone I’m sure has a few they fancy. Rather than ask who your favourite star is, I want to know which character you would like to have a date with. To give you some examples:

Kate Beckinsale’s character in Underworld is smoking hot in leather, but she’s a vampire. Slight drawback for your date.

Megan Fox dressed as a schoolgirl for your date? Sounds perfect, except she is not what she seems in Jennifer’s Body.

Maybe you like some of the more classic goddesses like a Marilyn Monroe character, for example Sugar Kane Kowalczyk from Some Like It Hot. God damn she was beautiful……..

Jessica Rabbit, I’m expecting someone to mention her……….

Brad Pitt, but would you take his gypsy fighting non-english speaking character Mickey O’Neil from Snatch?

I’m sure you get the gist of it. Here are a couple of my choices, but remember, whilst you can list as many as you want to choose, you have to pick a winner, a number 1, your date! 🙂

For me, I do really like Jennifer Lawrence, but having only seen her in Hunger Games and House at the End of the Street, and as my wife says ‘she is nearly have your age, perv‘ I sadly just can’t choose either of her characters as my winning date. Mainly because she plays a school girl in them both.

katniss

Runner up and so close to being my winner would be Alabama Whitman, played superbly by Patricia Arquette in True Romance. Alabama is so cute and quirky, and you just know she would be faithful. It always breaks my heart looking at her in that scene with James Gandolfini as she kneels on the floor defending herself with the corkscrew. But ultimately I know her heart belongs to Clarence, so that’s why I didn’t choose her as my lucky winner.

Alabama

That honour goes to Kelly Brook’s character Danni Arslow from 2010’s Piranha. I know for anyone who has read my Desert Island choices, having Kelly Brook win was no surprise, and may even seem fixed. But as Danni, not only does she look amazing, she showed guts and determination in that movie, and was just a really likeable and down to earth character. Also pretty smart, which is the opposite as how she is portrayed in our media over here in real life. Nothing to do with the lesbian scenes, and obviously I’d quite like the date before she went in that water, with those fish……..

Danni Arslow

There you have it, my ideal Valentines Day dream date would be a sit down meal with the beautiful Danni Arslow. Now it’s your turn. They don’t have to still be alive in real life, and they could have died in the movie your taking them from, it doesn’t matter. All you have to do is tell me the character’s name and why you picked them. Hope this is all clear enough, and maybe I can make this Valentines Day fantasy come true for at least one of you (definitely won’t be able to, but please play along anyway!) Happy Valentines Day folks! 😛

  1. Hmmm…good question. Most likely Kathleen Turner in Body Heat or Linda Fiorentino in The Last Seduction. Yes, I like my women scheming and bitchy.

  2. Wow..the choices! I would love to have a date with Ewan McGregor’s Christian in Moulin Rouge..he can definitely serenade me with his love songs. But then, Matthew Macfayden’s Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice is just so charming and handsome. Or the hot Chris Evans’ Colin in What’s Your Number? but my ultimate choice is Keanu Reeves’s Jack in Speed 🙂

  3. You know, this isn’t the first time I’ve thought of this. But, I haven’t ever come to a conclusion really. However, I do have a top two. Don’t worry though, I’ll pick a winner.

For one, I would be a fool to not mention Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and
The Avengers. She’s gorgeous (seriously) wears leather, is a dazzling red-head, and can latch onto guys’ with her hips with the best of them. The only downside is that she tends to punch guys more than date them, so a date could be tricky to pull off.

Next would be Olivia Wilde, in pretty much any role. I’m a big fan of hers, and have enjoyed every movie I’ve seen her in. But if I had to pick one role for her, it’d be Quorra in Tron: Legacy. Yes, a bit of an odd choice, but I really love sci-fi, and her character in that movie is awesome and surprisingly human for a not-entirely-human person. A date with would definitely be easier that my other choice.

The winner: Scarlett Johansson. Yes, I’d probably need some ice for my head after the date, but there’s no way I can turn down a date with someone like her. And who knows, maybe my winning personality would win her over. 😀

Excellent topic Tyson. Here goes again lost entry as was plugging in cell charger.
My pic would be Ben Whishaw as Robert Frobisher the classical composer in Cloud Atlas. Like his character Freddie Lyon in the BBC series The Hour; both have a depth of intellect and of inner romanticism I would like to explore in getting to know them. That Ben Whishaw brings all the angst and life to his roles is testament to his under recognized abilities.

  7. I concur that Kelly Brook’s looks are good.

This is very tough. Sure, I could go for a big-boobed beauty like you did, but… well, I can’t think of a good reason not to. Maybe ask this question again when Kate Upton really gets her movie career going.

I was thinking of choosing The Bride from Kill Bill, but she has a little too much baggage. Same with Nurse Alex from An American Werewolf in London, who may have unresolved issues with her ex-boyfriend.

So it really comes down to two, and while on any other day Christina Lindberg from Anita: Swedish Nymphette would win, Valentine’s Day is more about romance and connecting with someone, so I’ll have to go with Emma Stone from Zombieland. Just the total package of looks, brains and zombie-killing skills, which is what I look for in a woman.

  8. I think mine would be Grace Stamper (Liv Tyler) from Armageddon. She likes animal crackers, wears slinky summer dresses, no longer has an over-bearing dad to kick your ass because he got blown up and she also probably got at least some of an epic insurance payout after her Dad died. And it’s Liv Tyler.

I LOVE Matthew MacFadyen as Darcy, Christian Bale as John Rolfe in The New World just made me swooon (I wish he did more roles like that), and deranged-personality aside, I’d so date Gerry Butler’s Phantom… my goodness he’s so sexy it’s criminal. Of course I’d date Bond any day, too (that is if he’s played by Timothy Dalton) 😉

Damn, this is a GREAT one and so very, very difficult!! I could spend all day but I’ll go with Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. I’ve always loved the character, the movie (“Breakfast At Tiffany’s” of course) and even once dated someone with a vaguely similar personality. Now this is just fantasy stuff because the love of my life is still Mrs. A., Marilyn.

I’d have to go with Cybill Shepherd’s character Betsy in Taxi Driver. She looks like she could use a good laugh, and her previous relationships haven’t gone too well.

My girlfriend said Bradley Cooper in any of his films. That hurt. 😦

  16. Well, I think she’s smart, fun, gorgeous, devoted, easy to get long with, incredibly kissable, and she’d jump off a boat into the dingy waters of an industrial harbor to be with you. Yes, it’s Lori Loughlin’s character Toni from the teen romance comedy Secret Admirer, and an actress I’ve been crazy about since I first saw her in this film and The New Kids back in 1985. And the great thing is, she was hot back in ’85, but she’s still totally hot today!

Of course, Tyson, she’s married now, so that might put a few roadblocks in your way when you try to set the two of us up. Perhaps if you made a decent proposal. Or even an indecent one, if that’s what it takes…

  17. Hmm, if it was celebrity dream date I would say Dave Grohl, because damn he fiiiine! lol.
But since it is not, I will have to think of someone else.
I was going to say Bane in the Dark Knight Rises because I did have a weird crush on him in the summer after seeing that movie. But he’s all psychotic and demented, focusing more on destroying cities than love. So that would be a real bummer.
Instead, I choose Brendan Fraser’s character Chazz from Airheads. Because I am a sucker for a dude with long locks and a leather jacket.

  18. I was considering Emma Stone’s character in Zombieland but she’s been taken now. Keira Knightley in Atonement is beautiful, but I don’t know, somehow she’s not quite somebody that I would like to go out on a date with. I also nearly went with a Marilyn role, but I would rather be dating her rather than any of her characters to be honest.
OK here are my top three choices:
    3. Melora Walters as Claudia Wilson Gator in Magnolia. Her smile at the end of the movie is truly magic, but as her date with John C. Reilly shows, perhaps she’s not quite dating material.
    2. Natalie Portman as Nina in Black Swan – She’s beautiful, but this lady has quite a few problems going on unfortunately.
    1. Here’s my actual choice; Marion Cotillard as Adriana in Midnight in Paris. She is one beautiful women and would be enchanting to spend an evening with.

This will come as no surprise to anyone who read my last review, but I am still totally crushing on Stephen Price (played by Geoffrey Rush) in the House On Haunted Hill Remake (I’m ignoring the quality of the film as a whole here). He’s hot (important), intelligent (essential), very rich (desirable), suave (rocks a cravat like a boss), slightly unhinged (unpredictable), channels Vincent Price (actual legend) and since I wouldn’t be involved in a complex, but stupid, plot to murder him I wouldn’t be in any danger! Also, Geoffrey Rush is just amazing in general.

Before you call out the men in white coats to come and take me away I also offer my choice of more conventional attractiveness; Timothy Olyphant, especially in Justified (Yes, it’s a TV show, but he’s so hot I’m overlooking this fact!)

Can I put in an honourable mention besides my earlier Robert Frobisher / Ben Whishaw? Jack Twist has just driven off, Ennis Del Mar ducks into a side alley his arm propping himself up overcome with emotion. A person walks by eyeing him, he cries out “what are you looking at”. Such realism and raw emotion by Ennis Del Mar / Heath Ledger. I want to put my arms around him and say I understand. Its okay to feel. This is powerful unforgettable person to want to know. This is also the most fun set of blog posts to date.

If you had asked for movie star that would of been difficult enough but this is really tough.

After spending 2hrs on a plane and not being able to use electronic devices for take off and landing I got bored and my mind started to wonder. ..

The obvious way to go would be to pick a hottie and find a role you like them in but this didn’t really work. I first went to Jared Leto (who I can say is as beautiful in real life) but he always plays a damaged looking character; in panic room he burns his face, in requiem for a dream he loses an arm, fight club his face is beaten, alexandra he’s gay etc so it wouldn’t be him.

On to two more Channing Tatum and Ryan Gosling.
It’s well documented by my hubby (Tyson) on here that I might like Magic Mike. Great moves & body but wouldn’t want to date him. Channing in the Vow however is a different story. For the majority of you reading this who haven’t seen it Channing’s Wife is in a coma when she wakes up she remembers nothing of Channing or their relationship. Now if I woke up and Channing was telling me he was my husband I’ve probably died and gone to heaven but if not I wouldn’t question it!
Ryan is a favourite of mine especially in Crazy Sexy Love but he’s a womaniser so not sure I’d date him. In the notebook he’s very romantic and devoted but not number one.

    Other contenders
Christian bale – Bruce Wayne/batman – what’s not like to billionaire, nice cars, apartments, dinner in nice places, cool gadgets and he’s batman! In my fantasy world I’m in on the secret.
Tom Cruise – Maverick, Top Gun – fast planes, bikes, cool shades and there’s something about this character.
Keanu Reeves – Jack, Speed – as mentioned above will always have a special place in my heart. The first real celeb I had a crush on due to this character. I’d still love him to say ‘Carly’ the way he does ‘Annie’.

After all that I’ve gone for a tv character (if that’s allowed?).
It would have to be Wentworth Miller as Michael in Prison Break. I know I’m not the only girl out there that fell for him in this and it was more the character than just looks. I watched the whole series on Blu ray and was hooked. Obviously he would have to be out of prison for the date.

Having said all that I was very spoilt by my wonderful hubby yesterday and would probably turn them down.

    Sorry I tried who am I kidding I wouldn’t. 🙂

      • Nah, Not into the S&M stuff, but, as you can see from this photo you posted, she is pretty freakin’ hot. Very good movie, by the way. Not what you may think.

Robert Mitchum as Jeff Bailey in Out of The Past. He’s a good man at heart and with those sloe eyes and low manly voice…well. I could watch that man pick up his dry cleaning. So handsome and down to earth. Yup. It’s Mitchum.

  34. So many, so so so so many dream dates out there. Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman comes to mind, Lauren Bacall in anything back in the day – super sexy, Alyssa Milano (born the same day as me) has always been a favorite, but the one that came to mind when I first read this was Helen Hunt’s character in Twister. She was just so smart and sexy in that role, and a weather girl – I am a weather buff so that would have to be my choice.

By the way, your pick was great. Did you see Piranha in 3-D? Crazy stuff.

    • Very eclectic choices there buddy, but Helen Hunt wins it eh? Alright, fair enough! And yeah, Piranha 3D was great fun!! Kelly Brook in 3D is nothing but good 😛

For me it’s definitely Jack Foley from Out of Sight 🙂

  36. I know this is old and I already answered, but I thought of the perfect answer this morning: Mystique from X-Men: First Class. Not only to you get the lovely Jennifer Lawrence in her human and natural blue form, but she can turn herself into any woman ever! Think about it! Sure, she might have a few issues, but just keep telling her you love her blue form the most, blah blah blah and buy her some blue roses and she’ll be fine. Then ask her if she can transform into every Bond girl in the span of… oh, 10 minutes should do.

Kevin Spacey as whoever he was supposed to be from Usual Suspects. The night might kill me, or I may end up rich, rich, rich….just kidding, I’m sure I’d end up dead, but he might tell me a fun story or two. 🙂
