2013 Lammy Awards

Thanks to some of you crazy fools, I’m proud to announce that I have been nominated for 3 Lammy Awards! This was truly a pleasant surprise, and I just wanted to say a few quick words about these nominations.

After my post last month asking for you to consider me and my blog when casting your votes, the nominees who made the shortlist were announced a couple of days ago. I was proud and humbled to be nominated for:

Best New Lamb

Best Community Builder

Best Movie Reviewer

I started this blog 9 months ago, and I only started it after a conversation I had with a friend of mine (who came to my wedding no less, freeloader 😉 ) called Tom. He convinced me to give this writing lark a go, and I’m so glad I listened to him. He has since done some guest reviews for me over here, but most importantly he runs an amazing blog which I’m honoured to be nominated alongside in the Best New Lamb category. I don’t normally mention specific blogs as thank-you’s as I’m so worried I’ll miss someone out and offend them, but I feel I owe Tom a lot for getting me started. If you don’t already, please go check out his excellent site At The Back.

Now here I am, nominated for 3 awards in the largest movie blogging community online. Since votes can only come from fellow members, it really is nice to be respected enough by my peers to receive these votes. Now I’m just asking for one more push! I’m up against some amazing blogs in my categories, and in all of those categories there are guys & girls that read my site here, but more importantly I would class as friends. And if you don’t vote for me or you do and I still don’t win, losing to any of my friends would still be an honour. As a wise, angry Glaswegian named Mark Walker said to me:

“A friends gain is no loss”

What is more important to me than awards (not that you’d know it, since I love my fully stocked Awards page) is honestly you reading this. The fact that you come back here and like and comment and interact gives me the motivation to keep writing. I read your work and become even more inspired. It may sound corny but I mean it. I hoped that discussing movies with a couple of people would be the best I could aim for with my blog, but I have so many people who keep coming back for more and joining in, I’m beyond grateful and wouldn’t change it for the world.

There are over 80 people and counting stuck on a Desert Island (with a new logo!), a project which makes me so proud how you all have embraced it and I’ve met so many new people through it. The images on this site have mostly come from one man, and he hates me thanking him, but I pay him top Canadian dollar for his work so will just one more time ask you to join me thanking Chris aka filmhipster for his stunning work. #Legend

I hope 2013 will continue to be good for me on here, but I know I need to give you reasons to keep coming back. I delivered a Playboy model last month, and the films I have coming up in my Promoting Horror project are very exciting. Working with writers and directors is so much fun, and as a sneak peek one of them was nominated for an Oscar earlier this year. And he wants to work with me!! Crazy. Anyway, I’m not here purely to blow smoke up my own ass, I’m here to say THANK YOU!! If you are a LAMB member and can spare the vote at this final stage, I would be honoured. More important to me though is that you keep coming back and visiting me here, that’s all I really want. That, and awards. Either way, just being nominated has blown my mind, and good luck to everyone else nominated. 🙂
