Desert Island Films is about choosing 8 films you would take if you were going to be stranded on a desert island and explaining your choices. They don’t necessarily have to be your favourites, just 8 films, no more or no less! You are also permitted to take one book and one novelty item which must be inanimate and of no use in escaping the island or allowing communication from outside.

Desert Island Films – Fogs’ Movie Reviews

1) The Godfather.

godfather

I wont cheat and say I & II. I can make do with I. But there’s no way I go the rest of my life without the wisdom of Don Corleone. Or the cunning of Michael.

2) Jaws

jaws

Again, a movie I can’t imagine never seeing again… I believe that Jaws holds my unofficial record for movie I’ve watched the most in my life. I’ve seen it roughly 65,000 times.

3) Pulp Fiction

desertpulpfiction

With all that time on my hands, I’ll be able further my quest to quote this movie exactly from beginning to end. 😀

4) Rocky III

rocky 3

I need a little shut off your brain and have some fun movie, and Rocky III is one of my faves in that regard. Also serves as a nice childhood nostalgia piece.

5) Boogie Nights

boogie nights

Can serve as a comedy and a drama. Plus, if you’re going to be stuck on a desert island, it’s good to have some Heather Graham along with you, no?

6) The Big Lebowski

the big lebowski

So I can have a laugh whenever being stuck on a desert island overwhelms me with suckitude.

7) Fast Times at Ridgemont High

fast times

So I can reminisce about my teenage years.

8) Office Space

office space

I think its possible that watching this movie might just give me a moment’s pause about how great it was to live in society. I might just think, “Hey, you know? This beach aint so bad” 😀

Book

bible

My book will be the Bible, cause if I’m marrooned on a desrt Island, I’m probably going to want to find God, and its a big long book, so there’s a lot of reading there. 😉

Luxury Item

sofa-bed

For my luxury item, how about a couch? Make it a fold away. That way I can watch movies AND sleep in comfort!

  4. Foldaway couch. Brilliant choice for a luxury item.

Interesting selection on the Bible for the book. Just be wary of getting to the section of the Old Testament I call the “Begattitudes.” “…And Japheth begat Napheth, and Napheth begat Sapeth, and Sapeth begat George Burns” for six or seven pages of dull reading.

Movie choices are all interesting, and all fairly unsurprising, except perhaps Boogie Nights. Have to admit I didn’t call that one.

    • Gotta be practical, right? If I’m gonna be watching movies… well….

LOL @ the “Begattitudes.” That’s funny shit. I’ve always skipped those. 😉

  5. Nice work including ‘Jaws’, Mr. Fogs! I’ve only seen it about 5,000 times, so you’ve got me beat there, but it will be #1 on my Desert Island list, whenever I get the list to Tyson.

Fogs choosing to bring along the Bible! Bravo, sir. Ya know, no need to wait until you’re stuck on an island to find God 😉 Good movies choices too. I would have Rocky III on repeat for like a week.

    • “Ya know, no need to wait until you’re stuck on an island to find God” LOL, no, yeah, I know, Gene. But I might have to be stuck on a desert island to reread the Bible. 😉

And yeah, I guess if I’m stuck on a desert Island, Rocky III plays for MORE than just a week! 😯

    • If you’re only allowed ONE book, it should pretty much be THE book, right? [shrugs] LOL

Aside from that, glad to know I’ve been making my favorite films known to everyone. 😉 😀
