As I mentioned earlier, my new Robert De Niro inspired site You Talkin’ To Me? I’ve started with Mark is now open for viewing. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up and checked us out, we are very grateful. The next step is starting a project and ideally getting you lovely people involved.
Blogathons are something I have had fun with and been honoured to join on a few occasions, and now I’m calling in those favours and asking for volunteers to join ours. We don’t have a logo (since my logo guy is busy with his real job) and the title is pencilled in as I’ve Never Seen De Niro In… but we do have the actual premise. It’s simple; this blogathon will be all about Robert De Niro. Surprised? Okay, more specifically:
We want to see people’s thoughts on a De Niro film you’ve NEVER seen before.
According to my voting records on my own Project: De Niro page, no one has seen anywhere close to all of his films, so there are bound to be plenty to choose from. Whilst some people may have to dig a little deeper to hunt out Midnight Run, 15 Minutes or Rocky & Bullwinkle if they so choose, others may never have seen Raging Bull, Godfather II or Taxi Driver for example. I thought it would fun to see people take on the challenge of finding and watching a De Niro movie they’ve never seen, and the end result is ultimately getting people to see more of his work and sharing their thoughts.
You wouldn’t have to write much, all we need from you is a little review of the film in question, and a few words on how De Niro was in it, ie was it a vintage performance from Goodfellas, or was he phoning it in with one of his money accepting roles like New Years Eve? His entire career in film can be seen on my project page linked above (or IMDb I guess, but they get enough views!) and please just shout out the film you’d like to take on in the comments section below. First come first served, and I’ll update this post with a list as quickly as possible. If you feel you could get a couple of films watched, please feel free to give us a few of your choices.
No deadlines as such, but we’d be looking to start early October ideally so gives you all 2-3 weeks to get something watched and written if you are interested. Any questions and details can be sorted out later, I have email addresses for most of you anyway, so all I need now is for at least a couple of people to be interested and reserve a film below. Mark & I would love a good turnout for this, our first blogathon, but especially me as I pushed this idea and if it flops Mark will laugh as he prepares our 2nd one. Thanks for reading and joining in (hopefully), and now please go ahead and reserve a film!

There is a list and poll on there, above, Project: De Niro. Confusingly I guess, the other website You Talkin To Me is a brand new site we made just for blogathons and such, Im just promoting it here to my readers. Apologies for any confusion, its late here and Ive been playing GTA V for about 10 straight hours.

Also, we should talk about a project I’m doing to help movie reviewers. I think a lot of our common friends could tell you that it might help out, especially because we have lists built into this app, and we could build one up for De Niro films and you could see what films people have already seen & rated.
