Blogathon Participants Required! Apply Within…

recommended movie poster

Since I’ve been away for a while, I decided to start a little blogathon to try and reacquaint myself with everyone, and hopefully meet some new people along the way.

There are so many films out there, and so many bloggers we all follow, and from time to time someone reviews something which we haven’t seen and they make it sound great. Then we tell them how great it sounds, and that we will put it on our ‘to watch list‘. Yet we never get round to watching it. The good intentions are there, and maybe we even went and bought said film, but still haven’t watched it. I want to try and get people watching something new, and more importantly something recommended by a fellow blogger. Therefore I present to you the ‘Recommended By‘ blogathon!

The idea being that you think of a film you’ve seen reviewed somewhere that you’ve been itching to watch but not done so, and you go out and make the effort to finally watch it. Then you review it for my site, with not only your thoughts on the movie, but the person/site who recommended it. It can be any film, you might love it, you might hate it, the point is you watched it based on a recommendation. A blog review, a twitter comment, a Facebook post etc etc, any kind of prompt from a fellow blogger which got you wanting to check out a certain film. Perhaps a film someone gave a scathing review to, maybe you want to see how wrong (or right!) they were. It just needs to be a film you haven’t seen that you have read a review for. We’ve all read hundreds of reviews, so I’m sure you can think of something. And someone to say thanks to whilst you’re at it.

Your reviews can be as long or as short as you like, and not only are you going to be watching something new and promoting your site, but you will be promoting a fellow blogger and their site too. Everybody wins, and hopefully we can all find new sites to read and enjoy. Anyone can enter this, and if we say August 13th for the closing date that gives people 3 weeks to try and get something watched and written. I might start it earlier depending on whether any keen people work quickly. And if you’re really struggling to find a review that makes you want to watch something, give me a shout and I’ll find you something I’m sure! Happy hunting, and hope to see a few of you sign up below! You can of course shout out in the comments below that you’d like to be involved, or just email me at the usual address: tysoncarter@hotmail.co.uk

  1. Happy to see some activity here 🙂 I would be up for it and know enough movies I’m planning to watch, but simply haven’t done yet. Problem would be to find out which blog I read the review for as I have subscriptions to so many blogs! Let me see what I can do.

    • Cheers Nostra, yeah it’s been a while I know. Remembering where you’ve seen it is an issue, but I’m sure you can find one recently. I’d love to get you involved. That’s what I’m doing, trying to work out which choices to use and where I saw them 🙂

No guarantees on anything before August 5th though. I’m a tad overloaded in July. Just giving you a heads up!

    • Thanks Kim. We’ve all done it, I know I have. Now is the time to track them down and get them watched lol.

August 13th is deadline, and even then I could always put you towards the end to give you more time if you’re up for joining. No worries 🙂

    Chief,

I’ll try and get something to you – I’m working on a twelve movie project with someone and with that and trying to get my own content together, I’ve been keeping busy. I know what I’ll do if I can get my hands on it, get it watched and get something written in time.

I’ll have to see what recommendations I have on my queue. I need to find one someone recommended specifically for me. Do you have any to offer specifically for me, having an idea what I like and don’t like?

Heck no, not Wolf Creek 2. I hated part one. And I have heard some bad feedback about 2 – although I have heard some good, too. Nonetheless, will definitely need something else.

        • I remember you saying you hated the original. Hence the suggestion 😉 but wc2 is the best action/horror I’ve seen this year. Have you heard of a film called Drive? Apparently it’s quite good 🙂

Abbi, yeah I also recommend “You’re Next” if you’re a horror fan; just know ahead of time there are elements of comedy sprinkled in. There’s a little bit of “Scream” flavor in there as they poke fun of horror movies in a couple instances.

  18. I think I might see if I can make time to get you something.

I just have a couple questions if that is okay. So my understanding is that we have to include the other blogger’s opinions for contrast. Or is it that we just have to provide a link to their review? Or both?

And August 13th is the very latest we can email a review to you?

    Thanks. 🙂

    • Hey Brian 🙂

Sorry, yeah just to clear it up, all you need to do is give me the link to the person/site where you saw the review. You dont need to include their opinion or agree with it, just your own thoughts on a movie that without someone else prompting you, you might not have seen. Clear as mud?! 🙂

And the 13th is really just a 3 week from initial post date, I mean if your gonna get one to me a few days after that date, its cool, as long as its before I run out of people.

Any more questions, just shout. Ive probably worded it poorly, but thanks again for stopping by and hope to see you join 🙂

      • Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up!

So basically I just have to write a regular review on a movie I haven’t watched yet which I was persuaded to watch by reading a bloggers review? But I’m guessing I should include something in my post about how the writer of a certain review influenced me to watch the film, right?

I think you worded it fine, I just wasn’t 100% sure on the specifics. Maybe I’m just too tired at the moment haha.

        Thanks again!
